furthering the Bianchi Volpe…

small update… the frame is now in the care of R+E Cycles up in Seattle, should be about two to three weeks before i see it again..

getting the dent filled and the new cable stops brazed-on (replacing the top cable guides).

can’t wait!

in the meantime i’ll just have to comfort myself by purchasing parts for the build, and maybe building up a wheel set 😉

speaking of wheelsets, the one planned for this build:

as far as a wheelset goes, it will be my fairly standard lacing of 36h Half Crowsfoot lacing on the rear drive side with 2x on the none-drive (left), and the can’t beat it, 3x up front. this will be accomplished with 14/15/14 guage double butted Sapim spokes, DT Swiss chromed brass nipples, and laced up to 700c Velocity Dyad rims in black. i’m thinking that i will give the Bontrager H2 Hardcase Plus 35mm tires a chance this time around.

has changed, now instead of the Velocity Dyad’s i’m re-settled on some Mavic A719’s in black and have the drive side spokes straight 14 guage instead of the original double butted, the rest, including the lacing, being the same.

the rear derailleur has a had a slight twist to it’s status on paper as well. i did a little math and figuring after i settled on a crankset, tell you about that in a bit, and the SRAM Rival just didn’t have the capacity, not even in it’s “medium” (long by anyone else’s standards) frame. the derailleur that will now being going on the bike is a SRAM X9 mountain derailleur, 2 extra teeth in it’s capacity with the setup i am going to be running.

so cranks, i finally found a drool worthy triple crank, the Truvativ Elita triple in black, almost sexy 😉 it comes with the 50/39/30 chainring setup, pretty much a “Racing Triple”, and sounds just about right to me! especially with that 11-36 cassette going on there.

well, that’s it for now, more updates as they come,
-peter
